The Dire Urgency of Unmasking Pedophiles, Saving Child Victims

Sometimes decent people -- empathetic individuals who loathe injustice and pain inflicted on innocent third parties – find it hard to fathom the true dimensions of child sexual abuse in California, nationally and across the globe.

Indeed, the heinous world of child predators, coupled with their creative machinations geared toward the exploitation of a vulnerable population, can seem almost fictional in its horror and cruelty.

And yet the realm is starkly real and stocked with cunning and heartless characters focused upon using children in unspeakably sad ways. Law enforcers that strive mightily to uncloak predators and bring them to justice, along with advocates who legally represent children and their families with diligence and compassion, know that intimately. And they have made it their life’s work to spotlight wrongdoing and empower victims.

That is certainly the mission at the Law Offices of Joseph C. George, Ph.D., a long-tenured California victims’ advocacy law firm. We note on our website that for over 30 years we have helped child abuse victims“confront their abusers and also the organizations or individuals who enabled [abuse] or could have put a stop to it.” It is hard to play such a role with other than due pride and a dire sense of urgency to make a positive difference.

Sad and shockingly revealing stories regularly emerge to underscore the global challenge posed by criminals who hide in shadows as they seek to take unconscionable advantage of young children.

A recent tale from nearby Utah is one such example. We touch upon it in our next blog post to duly illustrate the types of problems continuously faced by law enforcers and to highlight instances when predators are unmasked and brought to justice.
